Warning Description: Special Weather Statement

Warning Date: 12:02 PM PDT on June 28, 2009

WarningSum:...Hot Temperatures For The Central California Interior Early This
Week...

Warning Message:Strong high pressure continues over California today and will
remain through the early part of this week. Temperatures in the
San Joaquin Valley...the foothills of the southern Sierra
Nevada...and the high deserts of Kern County will reach triple
digits at most locations today.
Temperatures from 102 to 110 are likely in the San Joaquin Valley
and the Kern County desert today. Today is expected to be the
warmest day with record or near record temperatures expected in
the valley. In the Sierra foothills...highs of 102 to 108 are
expected. Even Yosemite Valley near the 4000 foot level will see
highs around 102 today. Temperatures are expected to be 10 to 15
degrees above normal today and Monday.
Very hot temperatures are expected to continue into Monday with
only a degree or two lower temperatures from today.
If you have outdoor plans this weekend...you will need to be
prepared for the hot weather. A few safety tips include avoiding
strenuous activity...keeping yourself hydrated by drinking plenty
of non alcoholic beverages...and using sunscreen. Never leave
children or pets unattended in vehicles...even for a short time.
Temperatures can quickly rise to life threatening levels...even if
windows are partially open.
Temperatures will remain above the century mark through this week
as the ridge of high pressure continues over the region. It will
remain seasonably hot through the week with temperatures 8 to 10
degrees above average.
